It's a little advertised fact that 90 percent of the protestors there were protesting the switch to a more capitalist based economic system. The protestors knew that they'd face wage cuts and their once safe government jobs were now in the hands of greedy western capitalists. The corporate media likes to tell people that it was all about the Chinese people wanting democracy, but nothing could be further from the truth. I recommend you read a couple of books:
1) The Shock Doctrine 2) Around the Bloc
The first one will open your eyes to the damage our modern capitalist system has done worldwide and the second will open your eyes to what Chinese people really think and want.
